Our Golden Osmanthus Liners..

The Golden Osmanthus is slow growing plant to be sure, there is no shortcut cut building up stock plants to get enough cuttings to produce a sales crop, it's taken us about 5 years. Though on a dull Winters day there are not many plants that light up the garden as much as these do!

A Heinz 57 Propagation Day....

A Heinz 57 Propagation Day today, we made cuttings of everything from hardy Banksia & Grevillia cultivars to 3 clones of Magnolia yunnanensis, Persea thunbergii, Clerya japonica & Neolitsea to name just a few!

"A Monumental Tree"...

Last Saturday I had a 110 mile round trip drive to pick up the "trimmings" from my friend Phil who was giving his Monumentale Sugar Maple it's annual Winter prune. He is going to have to get a taller ladder for next year :^).. Many thanks Phil I think there are close to 200 scions in the bag!

A Mexican Witch Hazel...

Flowering in our garden this week is Hamamelis virginiana var. mexicana. Sometimes listed as it's own species H. mexicana this plant's native range is between 4000' & 8500' in the Sierra Madre Orientale Mountains of Mexico. More of a collectors curiosity than a must have ornamental plant!
